Filmfare Awards - The Almosts

As always, we had a few celebs who were neither here nor there. In some cases, the accessories were amazing but the outfit was a major letdown while in others the accessories brought the outfit down many notches.
Katrina looks lovely neck up. her earrings are really pretty. While the colour of her dress looks nice on her skin tone, there is something 'off ' about her look. I think the break at the waist makes the outift look more like a knock-off and doesn't bring across the diva in her.
Siddarth's expression isn't helping his cause one bit. While he does look nice in his suit, the whole look has an overwhelming amount of grey.
Bipasha stuck to a basic black gown (Gauri - Nainika? ) and accessorized simple. The clutch seems a tad out of place. I am in love with her bracelet and would ove to have one. It jazzes up her otherwise boring look.
While the colour of the dress is refreshing and Shazahn looks lovely, the necklace is a little OTT and hair is is in desperate need of a change.
While Genelia's smile spruces up her Louis Vuitton outfit, the black vest inside spoils the entire look. Minus the vest, Genelia would have rocked the red carpet.
Kalki's sari is lovely. It has an ethereal feel to it and the lack of bling makes it a refreshing change. the blouse and the hair seem to make her face look really tiny though.
Urmila brings out the bling in a green Manish Malhotra sari. While the colour looks lovely on her, the overdose of these sarees has not been good for us.
Shah Rukh Khan looks dapper in his suit. I love Gauri Khan's grecian dress. The colour complements her skin tone perfectly but the fit seems off and the clutch is a tad to big,
Vidya's lehenga style sari is a refreshing colour and the rudraksh necklace is a surprisingly apt accessory. Somehow, the pleats seem a bit too stiff and the sari sits a lottle too low making this look an almost perfect one.

Filmfare Awards - The Bad

What's an awards function without people bringing out the ugliest outfits in their or their designer's closet isn't it? here goes...
What's with matching your lenses to your outfit? Really? And there's is way too much silver bling. Somehow makes the black clutch (the only ok thing about this look) look out of place.
At the pre awards function, Riya Sen, probably decided her pink satin outfit was too plain and too night gown like, so she wrapped her black dupatta to make a skirt and wore her bra a little high.
Why is Simran Kaur Mundi still in pageant mode? The hairm the posem the gown and the make up need to go ASAP. She does have a pretty face though. What a pity...
What's with wearing a really really blingy sari and then carrying a clutch that goes with it? Sophie goes a little too far with matching this (Manish Malhotra? designed) uber blinged sari. I would love to see her do a different hair style as well.
While the new hairstyle is much appreciated, the gown and the pose are very very boring. Amrita really needs a stylist who can take her away from the pageant gowns. So sad to see a pretty girl dress like this.
My eyes are hurting from the make up and the loud colour of the dress. Minissha should be in the lone with Amrita for that stylist. O and also a make up artist.
I think the sari and the red red lips explain why Mughda is on this list. I cannot believe I am saying this, but I would have preferred a blingy Manish Malhotra creation to this monstrosity. I cannot see the full length, but the pleats look pretty out of place.

The silver shoulder detail looks very out of place on what could have been a plain but classy dress. The hair looks like she just woke up.
Nothing really works for Kangna here. The sucked in cheeks, the hair style, the make up and the dress are all pretty Blah.
Though Shruti looks lovely neck up, the transparent dress is not working. Nothing at all about this look works for the girl.
At the pre-awards bash, Asin chose to wear her most boring and unflattering black unevenly fringed dress. The girl needs to scale up her hair, make up and accessories ASAP.

Fimfare Awards - The Good

The Filmfare awards gave Bollywood's who's who the best excuse to bring out their bling. They obliged us and how. Here's a look at those who left us speechless.

Kunal Kapoor looks absolutely yummy in this outfit at the pre-awards bash. The sweater and the cheeky smile are definitely swoon and drool worthy.

Dia Mirza carries off this Manish Malhotra dress perfectly. her accessories and shoes are on the dot. the make-up is perfect. And, well who needs anything better than her lovely smile to zing any outfit? Gorgeous....

I'm quite liking Deepika in her all black avatar. She looks like a girl with a purpose. The risque slit just adds to her oopmh factor. Her earrings and the black nail polish have me in too..

Mehr and Arjun Rampal look like the absolute perfect couple. That dress might have made anybody else look shapeless, but with Mehr's super model genes, she carries of the dress like a diva. And what better accessories than Arjun isn't it?
Sameera Reddy looks beautiful in this blue dress with minimal accessories. The colour suits her skin tone to the T. Loving the jewelled neckline.
Kajol picks out a non-blingy Manish Malhotra to wear to the event and looks ravishing. The earrings complement the outfit perfectly. Am a little distracted by the hunk of a white Audi Q7 in the background though.
On anyone else, this outfit would have been disastrous. Lara Dutta however makes it work, The clutch, the hair, the smile, the face go perfectly with the outfit. Can't help but wonder how Mehr would look in this outfit. On another note, a little tired of this long hair on Lara. A little change would be nice.
Another lovely couple. Hrithik looks totally hot. Suzanne, for her light complexion does very very well in this dress. It suits her skin tone and she looks angelic.
The edgy outfit totally works on Genelia. the over-sized clutch and the metallic sandals are perfect for this outfit. Her legs look amazing too.
At the main Filmfare event, Dia doesn't disappoint. She looks like an angel in this white outfit with golden accessories (again a Manish malhotra???). Waiting for a full length to see the footwear.

How NOT to Wear a Sari

So my very first post was on how Ms. Mahtani's sari was inappropriate for a restaurant launch, but Mrs Hurley - Nayar is, well.. just inappropriate. I do love the earrings though.

For those of you reading, please make sure no one is looking over your shoulder and if you are at work or in a crowded coffee shop, better wait till you get home before you click on the image to see what I'm talking about. Well, you've been suitably warned, so here goes....

Are you still in an Ok frame of mind???

Maybe the poor soul was in a hurry so forgot her blouse? No, wait that doesn't sound right - she forgot her bra as well? And the fact that she was wearing a sheer sari? And that there was paparazzi there? Hmm....

And if your eyes move below the horror, then notice the pleats. Maybe, she did dress in a real hurry and forgot about the whole concept of pleating. Bunch, tie and run seems to be the order of the night here.

Photoshop Bazaar

Harper's Bazaar latest cover and editorial features Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. They are two gorgeous individuals and the cover, though a little too bland seems to bring that through.

But OMG...what just happened???You open up and Katrina has lost a thumb and her kneecap (there is no knee in the reflection in the glass or is it inverted???).

Bling Blindness

So if you are a designer, you are supposed to dress appropriately to an event, correct? Apparently not for Nandita Mahtani. The designer turned up to the launch of the Punjab Grill restaurant in an overly blinged sari more suited for a wedding. One has to be thankful the draping is correct though!!!
