Reception Fashion

Newly weds Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik held their reception in Hyderabad a week ago. Sania wore a traditional outfit designed by Shantanu Nikhil. I love how she chos eto go uber tradition for both events. I am loving the way the 9 yard dupatta has been draped. She is also carrying a red Bottega Knot. The necklace seems very similar to the one she wore for her engagement to Sohrab Mirza.

Thay also held another grand reception (or their Walima) in Sialkot. Sania wore another outfit designed by Shantanu - Nikhil and paire it with the same Bottega Knot. Love the clutch, but it gets lost in all the red. Sania does look lovely in this outfit. The make up is much better than last time round. The jewellery was of the same style as the Indian reception.

Ravana Music Launch

Mani Ratnam's much awaited Ravan's music launch saw a very giggly, caked Aishwarya and mud covered, kohl wearing Abhishek take centre stage. Ar Rahman's music was absolutely divine. Aishwarya though fell way short in her too much make up and overy blingy sari. I do like her earrings, but fewer bangles would have been nice. And there definitely seems to be something up with her face. Eyebrow lift or botox in place definitely or maybe some cheek implants. I like that she has draped her sari properly.

IPL Awards Night - The Bad

Why would someone attend an awards night when they do not have the time to buy a mirror in their house? Or a blow dryer? And us poor souls who do everything we possibly can to look good, never get an invite now do we?

Amrita Rao looks like she got a hair cut. But didn't blow dry it. Her baby doll dress is too plain ( and not the good plain). Remove the embellishment at the bust and it would seem like a night gown. Her make up is oily. Please please please get yourself a nice stylist.

Siddharth Mallya looks sleep deprived. Maybe he was worrying about his team's performance in the pre-final game? Do not like the sequinned piping on his jacket.

This one I need help with. Why is a former Miss Afghanistan there at the awards night? Look scaring while making her appearance as well. Her dress is a little too short and a bit too red. Actually, this one in the same cut as Ms. Rao's I might have been singing a different tune.

Why is Sherlyn Chopra here? Really. That dress is plain ugly. The shoes are tacky. The make up is bad. The belt, which is the only half decent thing about the outfit is lost in all the bad.

Payal Rohatgi is another one who doesn't seem to have gotten any sleep. The dress is ugly, she is in desperate need of spanx and the shoes are pretty but lost with that plain old boring dress. Note to self - Never forget to condition hair.

IPL Awards Night - The Almost Brigade

As with every red carpet, some people looked amazing, but there were certain sore points in their outfits. Maybe, that's just me being picky. But here's a look at those who looked good, just not absolutely amazing.

Ok, I think it is completely me. Priyanka Chopra looks nice in her stage appearance. The blinginess of the sequined waist coat and shorts would look tacky anywhere, but I think it's perfect for a stage appearance. The footwear is slightly off though.

Katrina Kaif looks divine in her stage sari outfit. I do not like the sari or the blouse though. The one boob draping needs to go irrespective of whether or not it's a stage outfit.

Diya Mirza always gives us amazing looks on and off the red carpet. Here again she looks gorgeous, but I don't quite like the pairing of those shoes with that dress. The t-straps just don't seem dressy enough. Good old black pumps or strappy stilettos and this would have been in the best dressed.

Shamita Shetty looks nice in her purple look. The accessories are spot on, but the dress in itself is nother to brag about. Love the Bottega Knot in she's carrying.

IPL Awards Night - The Good

So IPL is drawing to a close and we can all rejoice the TV being turned to a channel apart from Max. The awards night was host to a bevy of celebrities dressed to the nines. Team owners, friends of team owners, players....everyone made an appearance. Here's a look at those who were absolutely flawless...

Shilpa Shetty look gorgeous in her blue dress. Am a little iffy about the slit, but her entire less - is - more with the bling has me sold on her look.

Both Nita Ambani and Mugdha Godse look beautiful in their respective outfits. I like the exposed front zipper detail on Mrs. Ambani's tunic very much. A nice subtle fusion of Indian and Western - amazing. And Ms. Godse's shoes are totally drool - worthy.

Finally, Sameera Reddy gives us a look that we can find no fault with. The champagne coloured dress is beautiful and the subtle accessories complete and complement the look perfectly.

Who can ever find fault with the Rampals? Their super model genes just mean that they come out looking like, well super models every time they step out. I have completely fallen for Mehr's glamourized look.

Wedding Style - Congratulations!!!!

After a lot of hype and hoopla, Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik tied the knot in Hyderabad under media scrutiny. (I don't understand why the media are pissed now when they weren't pissed with Mr. Bachchan when he was asking a bunch of buses to prevent people from taking pictures of his son as a groom...hmmm..). Back to the post. If only she had commissioned Shantanu - Nikhil to do the outfits for the sangeet and mehendi functions as well. She does look like a glowing bride though - her happiness shines through. Wishing her a very happy life ahead.
I do find it very nice that she wore her mother's wedding outfit without changing it much. I love the traditional look and the jewelery is perfect without being too much of a bling overload. I would have liked to see a different bag but then the overall look is very pretty.
Like I said, no comments on the sangeet and mehendi outfits. Note to all those brides out there, please do check how your make up is going to look with the flash before you zero down on the one look for the big day.
